  1. Slavery is the unlawful forcing and abusing of a person to do something against their will. Slaves are people being forced into working for no pay. Slaves were originally prisoners of war.

  2. What I would call Slavery
Slavery in my words is something that is not good in any circumstance because when one is a slave they are working for a person who doesn’t consider they are equal to themselves. For example say a man needs to hire a person who will wake before dawn and work long hard hours for him. People will look at this job differently people who have worked in high standard jobs and have a great résumé. People who never went to jail people with clean good records, those people will most likely never take that job because they can get a way easier and safer job. But somebody whose poor and has records or maybe in the country illegally, they might consider or even take the job because they don’t have any other way to work. Knowing that man can make them even do illegal things for you because the worker needs the money. To manipulate and take advantage of someone in the exchange of life or money, that is what I would call slavery.

  3. In my words, slavery is owning someone else in some manner. These individuals usually have a few amount of choice about what kinds of actions they can take. They are forced to perform some job for another person without getting any reasonable money. Basically, a slave becomes another person's property, and he can be used by that person for any task. Today, slavery is illegal in many parts of the world.

  4. What is slavery? Slavery is when you is under all the classes and people control your power. You have to obey everything they tell you to do. Never can tell them no or else. It's all different kinds of slavery in my opinion but the biggest slavery today is making people work for you so you can make money. The money you get it is from how good they make the profits you are selling.

  5. Slavery to me means someone who has a civil relationship where one person has absolute power over another. This person has complete control of his or her life. People that our slaves are pretty much are forced into work, whether they want to or not. Slaves get very low pay and they have to do it in harsh conditions.

  6. Slavery to me is when someone is unlawfully punished. It is cruel and unusual punishment due to person or group of people having ownership over another person or group of people. Slaves work for no pay and whenever their "owner" feels like beating them or harshly punishing them they will. This is slavery to me!

  7. In my own words slavery is when one person takes charge of another person making them do whatever they say and giving them no free will of their own. Selling people for work, sex, and other objectives to gain money. It is a selfish ruling to control another human being. It doesn't matter race or ethnicity. People should be treated equally and no one race should be more powerful then another.

  9. To me, slavery is when one person takes ownership over another. It is a wrongful act no matter how good the intention. I personally believe that once someone has the higher rank, it will make them think that they are essentially “better” than those “below him.” This type of mind setting is unhealthy and can lead to many different conclusions- some good, some not so good. Slavery has been taken to many different extents and even to this day it exist.

  10. To me, slavery is when someone both physically and mentally abuses another human being. They do so by forcefully taking wrongful ownership over someone. A slavemaster takes the slave away from their home, family, and life. In return the slave gets long hours of hard labor for either low wages or just for housing and poor nourishment.

  12. What is slavery? Slavery was a time where caucasions took and purchased africans, and used them for labor. These africans did not get payed, and were badly beaten if they did not do their work. They were not aloud to leave, or receive an education. To me it was one of the worst times in American history.

  15. When you are held against your will and forced to do unbearable labor. Slavery is injustice, not only do you take away someone’s dignity you also take away their rights as a human. What makes one race of people better than another? “All men are created equal”- Declaration of Independence.

  17. Slavery is when someone has control over another living human or animal. The person might have even sold themselves into slavery by getting a loan and not paying it back when they said they would. Others are taking from their home and family and put on the market to the highest bider. Some slaves earn their freedom after a couple of years, others are slavers for a couple of generations. It all depends where your coming from, and who your going to. Slavery can be good, and bad. It just depends what side your on.

  19. Slavery is the process of owning another person and denying their rights as a human being. This process begins when a person is removed from their home and forced to work for another. Most people believe that it is only blacks that were slaves and whites were slave owners, but there were many if not all races that were enslaved at one point in time. The slaves had no rights such as voting and freedom and they were never allowed to be taught or be caught learning anything besides how to do their jobs better. Even after slavery was abolished most slaves stayed and worked for their previous masters because they knew nothing else in life. Even though slavery is illegal in modern day civilization it is still a prominent problem.

  20. What is Slavery?
    By: John Traenkner
Slavery is the practice in which a person is the property of someone else and is used to carry out mundane, even dangerous, repetitive and backbreaking tasks, for little or no pay, for the owner’s benefit. Slaves have little or no rights (upon the owner’s discretion) and are treated with negligence, or just downright abused. Since they are owned, they can be treated in any way, also upon the owner’s discretion. Not only african americans were slaves. If I’m not mistaken, almost all races have been used for slave labor at one point in time or another. (See Indentured servants comparison to slavery here)Slavery is also a problem, even is this modern age. The U.S 700,000 to 2 million women and children and children are trafficked across borders yearly. This does not include those who are trafficked within a country or include men. Human Trafficking is the fastest growing form of forced labour.(human trafficking includes sex work, sweatshop work, and domestic servitude)

  23. What is slavery?
In my own words I would describe slavery as the buying and selling of other humans. It was most popular before the American Civil War. The most commmon race that is pulled into slavery are the Africans. They are "snatched" up and shipped across the world to be sold. Then the "owner can do what they please with them".
Most slaves were treated horribly with little to no sheltter and food that should have been fed to the animals. They were beaten when they didn't do as commanded and even in public, just to remind the others that they are "my propery".

  25. Slavery is when people are forced to work for free or forced to work under their own will when they have a choice to work or not. Slavery is when you are someone else property and you are supposed to listen and do what they say. Slaves are also punished if they do not follow through with orders that they are given. When most people think of slaves, we think of Africans that were captured and taken to the Americas to work on plantations.

  26. Slavery, the illegal use of servants without giving them pay or proper treatment; referring to sexual slaves and working slaves, Africans. Slavery is when you capture one group of people for the use of extreme labor.

  27. Slavery is giving someones rights away to someone. Giving them full control over that person by just signing a peice of paper. Its kind of like holding them against there will. Also like volenteer work only they dont volenteer for it.

  29. To me, the definition of slavery is someone who is taken or "bred" from a previous slave family, or someone who is in debt and required to work for someone, and has no rights or freedoms, and can be treated in any way. Also they are not required to be paid when they work, or the hours can be as many as the slave owners choosing.

  33. What is slavery?
In my own words slavery is to make someone to do something for you by force. For example, the "white man" beating up the black man because the black man is weak and can't keep planting. That's an example of how slavery was in America. A smaller example would be, a man beats his wife because he wants her to do all the shores in the house. Even though most people don't see that as slavery, it is because he is making her do something for him against her own will. Sometimes you don't even have to beat someone up to make them do what you want, you can also threat people to make them do things for you but that is also a way of slavery.
